hair to be different.
for a reason.
We believe a salon should feel personal.
We want to know your name. We want to know what you love about your hair, what drives you crazy about it, and what actually works for your life. You should feel comfortable asking questions, changing things up, or even sitting in a different stylist’s chair when your needs change.
Hair to be Different was built around a simple idea: take care of the people in our chairs, invest in the people behind them, and never stop looking for ways to do both better.
The people in our chairs.
Your hair is personal. We think your salon experience should be, too.
Putting our guests first sometimes means recommending a different service than the one you came in asking for. Sometimes it means telling you your hair needs a break, showing you how to care for it at home, or helping you find the stylist whose strengths best match what you need.
We care more about earning your trust than making a single appointment bigger.
Your stylist. Your choice.
Our Open Chair Policy means you’re always welcome to see another stylist on our team. Schedules change. Budgets change. Hair goals change. Sometimes another stylist’s specialty is exactly what you need.
No awkwardness. No hurt feelings. What matters is that you’re taken care of.
The people behind them.
Talent is only the beginning.
We believe every stylist brings something different to the salon. Our job is to help uncover those strengths and give them room to grow, whether that’s developing a specialty behind the chair, becoming a mentor to a newer stylist, stepping into leadership, or discovering a talent they didn’t know could become part of their career.
Education is a big part of that growth. We invest in hands-on classes, one-on-one coaching, in-salon education, and opportunities that take our team beyond Cape Coral, from the Moroccanoil Academy in New York to Moroccanoil Collective in Las Vegas.
Because when the people behind the chair keep learning, the people in it benefit.
Not every strength lives behind the chair.
Growth here isn’t only about becoming a better hairstylist. We encourage our team to grow as communicators, mentors, leaders and professionals, and we look for opportunities to develop the individual strengths each person brings to our salon.
The people who built it.
it turns out, different works.
When Shannon purchased Hair to be Different in 2019, the salon had already been part of Cape Coral for years. She added “of Cape Coral” to the name, but the bigger change was what would happen behind it.
Shannon brought years of experience as a cosmetologist and cosmetology educator, along with a vision for what the salon could become. Amy wasn’t the manager when Shannon took ownership. But Shannon recognized a different set of strengths in her and trusted her with something much bigger: helping build the structure the salon needed and eventually running it.
Shannon sees talent and possibility in people. Amy builds the systems that help those possibilities actually work. Together, they rebuilt Hair to be Different from the inside out, creating a salon shaped by education, structure, culture, growth, and a shared commitment to taking care of both the guests who walk through the door and the people who work behind the chair.
One sees possibilities. The other builds the framework around them. And somewhere in the middle, they meet.
Somewhere along the way, Shannon and Amy started calling each other Graham Cracker and Cheesecake. The nickname stuck for a simple reason: some things are just better together.
They don’t always think the same way, work the same way, or see things from the same angle. That’s kind of the point.
It turns out, different really does work.
OUR MOROCCANOIL PARTNERSHIP
recognized for what we believe in.
We exclusively use Moroccanoil’s luxury professional haircare and color line at Hair to be Different.
Our longstanding commitment to the brand has earned us recognition over the years, including Platinum status and most recently 2025 VIP status.
For us, it’s about more than carrying a product line. It’s about choosing the products and professional color we trust for our guests, investing in continued education, and standing behind the work we do.
OUR ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT
Beautiful Hair. Less Waste.
As a certified Green Circle Salon, we’re committed to reducing beauty waste and making more responsible choices behind the chair.
From the hair swept off our floors to used foils, empty color tubes, and leftover color that would otherwise go down the drain, we collect salon waste for recycling and responsible processing through Green Circle Salons.
And, our guests can be part of it, too.
Through our Bring Back Program, return an empty product purchased from Hair to be Different and purchase two full-size products to receive our featured Bring Back gift bag, filled with a curated selection of Moroccanoil product favorites.
The featured bag and it’s contents change throughout the year.
We recycle the retuned empties through Green Circle, giving guests another way to participate in our efforts to reduct beauty waste.
and it all comes back to you.
You are the reason we keep learning, keep growing, and keep looking for ways to do things better.
We want to know your name. We want to understand your hair, your life, and what you need from us. We want you to feel comfortable asking questions, confident in the person behind the chair, and cared for from the moment you walk through our door.
Because to us, you’re never just an appointment on the book.
You’re the reason we’re here.
